The Town of Smithville is currently accepting applications for the position of Laborer, Part-time. Candidates will be responsible for the maintenance of 3-5 small cemeteries and may also be asked to offer minor assistance to the groundskeeper when necessary. Applications are available at the Smithville Town Clerk's Office M-F 9am-noon. Submitted applications will be considered at the May 18, 2026 meeting of the Smithville Town Board.
The Town of Smithville is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of a Motor Equipment Operator worker. The candidate will perform duties under the Highway Superintendent which will include, but not limited to: maintenance, repair of the Town highway system and associated equipment.
Candidate shall operate equipment and provide labor to facilitate highway grading, trucking, snow plowing and sanding Town highways, brush clearing, road repair and any other associated tasks required.
A current, clean and valid Class A or B CDL license with no automatic restriction is required. Your hourly wage will be $20.00 an hour. This position will include random drug and alcohol testing. All applications will be reviewed by the Chenango County Civil Service Department for approval of required qualifications.

The Planning Board of Smithville is looking for a Smithville Town resident interested in serving an appointed vacancy on the Planning Board through December 31, 2026. The position involves attendance at monthly Planning Board meetings and serving on Board committees; other meetings may also be scheduled.
